Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to khive as a custom MCP server and signs in with OAuth. You don't copy a key: ChatGPT holds its own token.

You need a khive account (see the Quickstart). These steps were tested on a ChatGPT Pro account; ChatGPT's menus can differ by plan.

1. Add khive as a custom MCP server

In ChatGPT, open Plugins, click Add, then Add custom MCP server. Name it khive, set the server URL to:

https://khive.ai/v1/mcp

and choose OAuth under Authentication. Leave Advanced OAuth settings as they are: ChatGPT discovers khive's authorization server and the khive:mcp scope from the server itself, and identifies itself with its own client metadata document (the CIMD option it selects). Tick I understand and want to continue, click Create as a plugin, then Continue to khive.

2. Sign in to khive

khive's sign-in page opens in the same tab. Enter your email and click Send sign-in link. The email carries a link and a six-digit code. Enter the code on the Check your email page, so the sign-in finishes in the tab ChatGPT is waiting on.

If your account does not hold a plan yet, khive shows one Stripe screen to start the Plus trial before it continues.

3. Approve access

khive asks you to confirm the connection:

ChatGPT (application host: chatgpt.com, redirecting to: chatgpt.com) is requesting access to your account.

Click Approve. You land back in ChatGPT's plugin settings with khive connected over OAuth.

4. Make the first call

Click Try in chat and ask in plain language. ChatGPT picks the tool:

What tasks do I have in khive?
list_tasks   { "limit": 200, "offset": 0 }
Remember that our release notes go out on Thursdays.
remember   { "content": "Release notes go out on Thursdays." }

remember returns the new memory's id, and recall_memories finds it again in a later chat.

5. See your usage

Calls from ChatGPT count against your plan like calls from any other client. https://khive.ai/dashboard/usage shows Requests this month, Usage (month to date) and Top verbs.

Disconnect

Removing the plugin in ChatGPT does not end khive's grant to it. To end it, sign in at https://auth.khive.ai/account, which lists your connected applications, and click Revoke access next to ChatGPT. ChatGPT's refresh token stops working at once; an access token it already holds expires within 15 minutes.
